Career Exploration & Change
What you do today is not what you must do tomorrow. We will use quantitative and qualitative assessments to help you determine the career that will maximize your satisfaction and best utilize your potential.
- Together, we will examine the skills you enjoy using, your interests, your job satisfiers, your personality and your values - and what professions or new jobs will maximize these. You will be coached on various possibilities so that you can prioritize your options.
- We will also coach you on a career change resume and job search strategies.
- Assessments offered include the Strong Interest Inventory, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Skill Scan and Career Beliefs Inventory.
Searching for a new position? Together, we will:
- Develop job targets and a marketing plan
- Create a first-rate resume
- Learn how to best use the internet, networking, recruiters and letters to get interviews
- Prepare you for both predictable and surprise interview questions
- Prepare you to negotiate your salary and close on a job offer
We will focus on clarifying your options and analyzing how to meet your goals.
- If you decide to stay in your job, you will learn how to increase your productivity, promotability and satisfaction, as well as reduce stress
- If you decide to explore changing jobs, you will learn strategies, resources and techiniques to help make that change successful
Hourly Consultations :: variable rates
Rates are $95/hour for those making $95,000 or less, and up to $200/hour for higher-income individuals. Written and computerized assessments cost $35 each, and rarely are more than two needed. Session may be held in our Washington, D.C. offices, or by telephone or email.
Career Change Package :: $550
Six to seven sessions, depending on your needs and wishes. Sessions include the use of quantitative and qualitative assessments and decision-making tools, development of a career change resume, a positioning statement and instruction on basic job search strategies.
Job Search Package :: $550
Six to seven sessions, depending on your needs and wishes. Sessions include assistance in targeting a job, developing a marketing plan, networking, responding to ads, working with search firms, direct contact, interview preparation and salary negotiation. An emphasis will be placed upon creating resumes that will present you well for the specific types of jobs you want.
Interview Preparation Package :: $170
Two sessions of coaching on how to present yourself in the best possible way in screening, group and individual interviews. Coaching will include best practices in behavioral interviews and, if appropriate, case method interviews.
Salary Negotiation Package :: $170
Two sessions on when, how and what to negotiate.
Decision Making Package :: $260
Three sessions to help you evaluate whether to stay in your current job or make a change.
Career Choice for Young Adults :: $495
It is not unusual for young adults to wonder "is this all there is" and to feel that the path they have chosen is not the right one. In six to seven sessions, we will sort out what skills and values you want to use and honor, key interests, personality type and work satisfiers. We will then identify the jobs that satisfy these key factors the best. You will leave with a prioritized list of new career paths that will bring you satisfaction and enjoyment.
Senior Transition Package :: $450
You may be at a point where you are leaving your "main" career, and moving on to a part-time position, a brand new field, starting your own business, or volunteer service. Five to six sessions will include quantitative and qualitative assessments, development of options, decision-making tools and strategies for change.
Coaching for On-the-Job Success :: $500/month
Four one-hour telephone sessions each month, plus brief calls as needed, to plan strategies for success, indentify problems, delineate and implement solutions, and consolidate learning and gains.
